TAF Gallery featuring Steve Archer
Below is a sampling of the digital, painting, and sketch work of Steve Archer, interspersed with his words. I came across his work on the net and was blown away. Instantly I thought his work would be perfect for the first on-line gallery page I wanted to include as a regular feature of TAF. And so, here it is. If you want to see more (and there is a lot more) of Steve's incredible work, there is a list of his various web pages on the contributors to this issue page. Enjoy.
Digital works
I did some digital stuff back in the day on old clunky macs, it was pretty cool, and then I just stopped, sort of in disgust because it really bothered me that someone could do in a hour with a computer what it took me days to do with paint. so I pretty much refused to use it on the principal of the whole thing. well eventual I gave in, and here is the result. and so the night falls back to air stream and candelight:a mixture of analogue and digital work.

Paintings
This will eventually have some good pictures of some of my paintings on it, currently it only has pictures of paintings that I could conveniently scan. Some were scanned in pieces, and then put back together in Photoshop. But this will at least give you an idea of what's going on with that. Click on the thumbnail to see the whole image.
children: dreams of fields, and old horrors
hate you: the painting from the sketch
hylocori: flagg on #process has a bot named hylocori, I asked him what it meant, and he said" it doesn't really mean anything" so I stole it, and used it in this painting.
in: sometimes you just have to go down that hole...
Sketches
These images are compiled from about 10 sketch books, they have been colourised as I see fit, mostly because when I work in black and white I see it in colour, but no one else does. Click on the thumbnail to see the whole image.
and we will fall right through the walls of the place where we were made:right into the open mouth ...of the great...annihilator...
rape machine: another based on the same song...sort of
rodent: this one got strangely discoloured in the book for no real good reason. I did it one night at a particularly boring party.
spine: wound up as the back of the electronic Control organization shirts.
like a stone in this sickness I fall: drawn while we were recording points on the fracture at gants recording studio. When your a singer you get to sit around a lot while the rest of the band fittles with their instruments.
